Five individuals have been formally charged in connection with an alleged gang rape reported at the Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) Headquarters at the Voinjama Central Police Station on January 2, 2026, at about 2:22 p.m.
According to police reports, the complainant, a 21-year-old resident of Kurzumai Town, told investigators that she was attending an early-morning dance event when she was lured to a secluded area by five young men. The suspects were identified as James Y. Kollie (18), Albert Thomas (21), Prince Junior (18), Guwor Kollieson (17), and another individual.
The victim alleged that James Y. Kollie slapped her before the group forcibly took her to a nearby house reportedly owned by Amos Kokulah, where she was sexually assaulted by multiple individuals.
During the police investigation, all suspects denied the allegations. However, Albert Thomas reportedly admitted that he allowed Prince Junior to use a room in his friend’s house to be with the victim, claiming he was unaware that an assault was taking place.
The victim was later referred to Tellewoyam Memorial Hospital for medical examination and treatment, where findings reportedly confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.
Police say the five suspects have now been charged with rape and forwarded to court as investigations continue.
