Monrovia – The Supreme Court of Liberia has ordered the cancellation of a scheduled conference in the ongoing petition filed by former Justice Minister, Cllr. Frank Musah Dean Jr., against Assigned Circuit Judge J. Boima Kontoe and others.
In a communication dated October 2, 2025, the Office of the Clerk of Court informed Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephus, counsel for the petitioner, that the conference earlier set for Thursday, October 16, 2025, would no longer take place.
The case involves a petition for a writ of prohibition, with Dean challenging the actions of Judge Kontoe, the Sheriff of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, and other respondents, including holders of a Class “C” mining license in Gbama Mining Agency, Gbarpolu County.
According to the court’s directive, Associate Justice Jamesseta H. Wolokolie, presiding in Chambers, mandated that the respondent judge resume jurisdiction and proceed in keeping with the law.
The development is the latest in a series of high-profile legal battles involving mineral rights and judicial authority in Liberia.
