BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA – March 31, 2026 – Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr., Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, has concluded the first phase of his countywide developmental engagement tour aimed at assessing community needs and promoting initiatives in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment across the county.
The first phase of the tour covered Yelequelleh District (District 5), Zota District (District 4), and Jorquelleh District #2, where Senator Moye held a series of town hall meetings with residents, inspected ongoing projects, and outlined several development interventions intended to address key community priorities.
According to the Senator, the engagement tour is part of efforts to strengthen direct interaction with citizens while ensuring that development initiatives remain community-driven and responsive to local needs. He also used the opportunity to update residents on his legislative work at the national level and the efforts of the Bong County Legislative Caucus.
Yelequelleh District: Infrastructure, Health and Community Development
The tour began in Yelequelleh District, where Senator Moye visited the communities of Joker-ta, Gonovo’s Town, and Gbatalah to assess ongoing development efforts and discuss community priorities with residents.
During the visit, the Senator inspected the Taylor-ta to Joker-ta farm-to-market road rehabilitation project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The project is expected to improve access for farmers and ease the transportation of agricultural produce to nearby markets.
As part of his support to the education sector, Senator Moye donated 30 bags of cement to assist with the construction of a local school. He also provided two bundles of zinc and additional building materials to support the construction of a town hall in Gonovo’s Town.
To enhance community safety and access to energy, the Senator further pledged the installation of solar-powered streetlights in several communities across the district.
In the health sector, Senator Moye committed to supporting the expansion of the Gbatalah Clinic and pledged 150 lappers for midwives serving surrounding communities as part of efforts to strengthen maternal healthcare services.
Additionally, he announced plans to facilitate vocational training opportunities for young people and provided financial assistance to the Yelequelleh Driver Union to support road maintenance initiatives.
To strengthen community leadership operations, the Senator also donated four motorcycles to local leaders in the district.
Senator Moye was accompanied during the visit by District Five Representative Eugine JM Kollie.
Zota District: Strengthening Local Development Projects
The tour later continued in Zota District, where Senator Moye joined District Four Representative Robert Flomo Womba and community members in dedicating several development projects.
Among the initiatives highlighted during the visit were two road projects, a youth center in Shankpallai, a guest house in Gbarnsue, and a pipe-borne water system in Naamai.
In Shankpallai, Senator Moye pledged to support youth empowerment by furnishing the newly constructed Youth Center with chairs, standing fans, and a DSTV set to improve youth engagement and community activities.
He also visited the Shankpallai Clinic, where he emphasized the importance of improving healthcare infrastructure and called on county authorities and members of the County Council to allocate funding during the next County Council Sitting to support the renovation and upgrade of the facility.
During a stop in Gbarnsue, the Senator pledged additional support to furnish the town’s guest house and commended Representative Womba for his continued efforts in promoting development initiatives across the district.
Jorquelleh District #2: Addressing Community Development Priorities
The final leg of the tour took Senator Moye to Jorquelleh District #2, where he visited Foloblia, Tamayta, Samay, Gbenequelleh, and Duaita.
In Foloblia, the district headquarters, residents acknowledged the Senator’s previous development contributions during his tenure as Representative, including the construction of a Commissioner Compound and a Multipurpose Hall.
Responding to new community requests, Senator Moye pledged to reconstruct the town’s public school and complete an unfinished town hall project.
While in Tamayta, residents appealed for the construction of a maternal waiting home at the clinic previously built by the Senator in 2014. In response, Senator Moye instructed County Health Services Administrator Sam T. G. Siakor to begin the process, assuring residents that building materials would be provided for the project.
The Senator also committed to providing temporary financial support for volunteer health workers until they are formally placed on the government payroll.
In Samay, Senator Moye pledged to complete an ongoing guest house project, donate a computer and printer to the public school, and provide financial support to volunteer teachers to assist educational activities in the area.
He also promised to fully furnish the town’s youth center with chairs and a DSTV set, while providing 30 bags of rice for elderly women as part of a social support initiative. Additional financial assistance was also provided to local Unity Party leadership in the community.
