A well-known son of the Mandingo community and supporter of the Unity Party has sharply criticized the Liberia National Police (LNP) for allegedly standing by while civilians assaulted Imam Abu Kamara. He described the incident as a serious breach of the police’s duty to protect citizens and called for an immediate investigation into the officers present at the scene.
Abu S. Kamara writes 👇
Until today, I painfully and unbearably struggled to process and absorb what Chief Imam Abu Kamara endured while in the Custody of the LNP. And yet, my own big brother- Police IG Gregory Coleman hasn’t made any arrest, but instead he witnessed his Spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke read flippant Charges against the imam and forwarded him to Court. What a painful reality!! In the background people are heard saying ” We don’t want Mandingo People here.” The scene plunges the entire nation into a burden of grief. How I wish this were a movie but instead it is reality.
I was devastated, quivered, shattered, and diminished by the disturbing video. Why if the Imam had died in the process? I can’t garner the strength or summon the courage to wrap my head around what this innocent Imam went through because of his tribe and his doctrine.
Gregory, for us who know you in person, still believes that you will correct the wrong your officers made while effectuating an eviction order from the Court.
