Allegations circulating in parts of Bong County suggesting that Representative Eugine Kollie has compromised the review of the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) with MNG Gold Liberia remain unsubstantiated, as legislative records show the matter is still under committee review.

On January 22, 2026, Rep. Kollie formally communicated to plenary, requesting that concerns surrounding the MNG Gold MDA be investigated.

The communication was subsequently forwarded to the House Committees on Investment and Concessions; Mines, Energy and Natural Resources; and Environment for thorough scrutiny.

Under legislative procedure, once a matter is referred to committee, the sponsoring lawmaker cannot independently act on it until a report is submitted to plenary.

The committees are yet to present their findings.

Sources within the Legislature indicate that reviewing and possibly renegotiating an MDA involves legal, fiscal, and environmental assessments, which require time and technical consultations.

There is currently no evidence to support claims that Rep. Kollie received bribes to sideline the communication. The matter remains pending before the relevant committees for report and recommendation to plenary.
