Nimba Youth Slams Representative Gleekia for “Abandoning” District #6 — Accuses Lawmaker of Failing His People

Tappita City, Nimba County – A young resident and youth advocate from Tappita City, Emmanuel Boan Wonkpah Jr., has strongly criticized Nimba County District #6 Representative Dorwohn T. Gleekia for what he describes as neglect and lack of impact in the district since his re-election.
In a public statement dated October 17, 2025, Wonkpah accused the two-term lawmaker of abandoning his constituents and failing to maintain a district office in Tappita the main hub of the district. He said residents feel disconnected from their elected representative, who has allegedly been absent from district activities for over a year.
“Representative Gleekia has done nothing tangible for the people who trusted him twice with their votes,” Wonkpah lamented. “It’s been more than a year since he left the district, and we have no office here in Tappita where citizens can engage or present their concerns.”

The young advocate also took aim at a recent “Peace and Reconciliation Program” organized under the Representative’s name, alleging mismanagement of funds meant for the event. According to him, out of L$600,000 reportedly budgeted, only L$100,000 reached the community, while the rest was allegedly squandered by local organizers.
“Peace and reconciliation should not be about drinking liquor and making empty speeches,” Wonkpah stated. “If such programs are meant to unite our people, they should include all towns and communities across the district not just Tappita alone.”
Wonkpah called on Representative Gleekia to reconnect with his people and restore public confidence through meaningful development, accountability, and consistent presence in the district he represents.

Despite growing public frustration, Representative Gleekia has yet to respond to the allegations as of press time.
