Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. of Bong County has pledged to provide a transportation bus for commuter students at Cuttington University. The commitment was announced during a fundraising program organized by the institution’s Commuter Students Association.
Speaking as Chief Launcher at the event, Senator Moye reflected on his time as a student at Cuttington University from 2001 to 2005. He highlighted the challenges commuter students faced, including long travel distances, limited class options, and the pressure of attending early morning lectures.
He noted that many students traveled from nearby communities such as Gbarnga, Palala, and Bassa Town, often under difficult conditions.
According to him, commuting demanded discipline, determination, and effective time management.
Drawing from his experience, the senator pointed out that many of his former classmates succeeded despite these obstacles, going on to build careers in areas such as medicine, banking, and public service.
He also recalled his role in student leadership, including serving as president of the Student Progressive Party, which he said helped shape his dedication to education and youth empowerment.
Senator Moye emphasized the importance of improving transportation for commuter students, stating that those who have not experienced such challenges may not fully understand the burden of balancing travel with academic responsibilities.
As part of his support, he committed to funding the purchase of a student bus. The initiative is expected to ease transportation difficulties and improve access to classes for off-campus students.
The announcement was welcomed with excitement by students and university staff. Members of the Commuter Students Association praised the senator’s gesture, describing it as a meaningful step toward enhancing student welfare. They also encouraged other leaders and officials to emulate his support for education and youth development in Bong County.
