LEC Begins Onboarding of Second Batch of Contractors, Volunteers

The Liberia Electricity Corporation has begun the screening and onboarding process for the second batch of Technical Contractors and Volunteers assigned to its Anti-Powertheft Task Force, in what management describes as part of an ongoing workforce reform and institutional strengthening effort.
The exercise, which officially commenced at the Task Force Office, includes background checks, biodata verification, and comprehensive screening procedures aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and proper institutional documentation.
The latest phase follows a commitment made in November 2025 by LEC Managing Director Mohammed M. Sherif, who assured Technical Contractors and Volunteers that they would gradually be transitioned into full employment status under the Corporation’s empowerment and workforce inclusion initiative.
According to LEC management, the onboarding process reflects management’s determination to improve staff welfare while strengthening operational efficiency across the institution.
One employee participating in the process described the initiative as a major breakthrough for workers and their families, noting that the opportunity has renewed hope, stability, and motivation among staff members.
The employee further emphasized that transparency, professionalism, and accountability would remain central to the duties of the Anti-Powertheft Task Force as it continues efforts to combat illegal electricity connections and power theft across Liberia.
LEC management says the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to build a more dedicated, accountable, and service-driven workforce capable of supporting the Corporation’s long-term operational goals.
