Grand Bassa County – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has continued its campaign against the illegal drug trade, resulting in the seizure of a quantity of suspected narcotics at the Timbo Checkpoint in Grand Bassa County.
According to the LDEA, officers assigned to its Grand Bassa County Detachment intercepted a shipment of Tapentadol Tramadol during a routine security inspection conducted on Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals identified as Prince Garjay, 22, and Simeon Garjay, 24, both residents of Rivercess County.
Authorities disclosed that officers recovered nineteen strips and six loose pills of the controlled substance, with an estimated street value of US$258, or roughly L$49,000. The suspects are currently undergoing investigation as the agency continues efforts to disrupt the flow of illicit drugs across county borders.
LDEA Grand Bassa County Commander Sandouno Faya said the agency remains committed to strengthening enforcement measures and protecting communities from the dangers associated with drug trafficking and substance abuse. The latest seizure comes amid ongoing national efforts to curb the spread of illegal drugs, a challenge that continues to affect communities throughout Liberia.
