Former Bomi Senator Sando Johnson Resigns as Boakai’s Legislative Liaison.

MONROVIA, Liberia – June 16, 2026 – Former Bomi County Senator Sando D. Johnson has resigned from his position as Liaison Officer between the Office of the President and the Liberian Senate, citing concerns over governance and democratic accountability.

Johnson, who was appointed to the role in March 2025, submitted his resignation to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Ministry of State on June 16, with immediate effect.

In his resignation letter, Johnson expressed concerns about what he described as declining adherence to the rule of law, transparency, accountability, and tolerance for dissenting views within government. He also referenced growing public concerns about corruption, illicit drug activities, and what he termed a shrinking space for constructive criticism in national governance.

Johnson said he intends to remain active in national affairs as a private citizen while dedicating more time to activities within the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC).
