Monrovia, September 29, 2025 – As Liberia joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Rabies Day 2025, Farm Alert Envisioning Animal Health Liberia has announced the launch of a major awareness program aimed at promoting animal welfare and improving veterinary health care services in the country.

The campaign, which officially kicks off on Monday, is designed to educate communities about rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of timely vaccinations for animals. According to organizers, the initiative will also serve as a platform to highlight broader issues affecting animal welfare and public health.

“Rabies remains one of the most preventable but deadly diseases, and public awareness is a critical step in reducing risks to both humans and animals,” a spokesperson for Farm Alert Liberia said. “Our program will not only focus on rabies but also emphasize animal care practices that safeguard communities and promote a healthier environment.”

Liberia continues to face challenges with rabies control, as many households struggle to access veterinary services and vaccines for their pets. The new awareness campaign is expected to bring together animal health experts, community leaders, and volunteers to engage citizens through outreach, workshops, and vaccination drives.

World Rabies Day, observed globally every September 28, is dedicated to raising awareness about rabies prevention and eliminating human deaths from the disease. With this new initiative, Farm Alert Liberia hopes to contribute to that global effort while ensuring that animal health remains a national priority.
