EPA Orders Inland Investment Incorporated to Halt Operations Over Expired Environmental Permit

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia has issued a stop order and non-compliance notice against Inland Investment Incorporated in Grand Bassa County for reportedly operating under an expired environmental permit.
According to the EPA notice issued on May 18, 2026, the company was found continuing operations without renewing its Environmental Permit, a violation of the Environmental Protection and Management Law (EPML) of Liberia.
The EPA said operating without a valid permit goes against national environmental regulations and could pose serious risks to public health and the environment.

As part of the enforcement action, Inland Investment Incorporated has been instructed to immediately begin the permit renewal process within seven working days. The company is also required to submit all necessary environmental compliance documents and fully comply with environmental safeguards and permit conditions.
The agency further warned the company not to carry out any expansion or new operational activities until approval for the permit renewal is granted.
According to the EPA, failure to comply within the given timeframe could lead to further enforcement actions, including the suspension of operations and possible legal proceedings.
The EPA noted that the action forms part of its ongoing nationwide Environmental Compliance Monitoring Exercise aimed at strengthening environmental governance and ensuring that companies across Liberia comply with environmental laws and regulations.
