BONG COUNTY, Liberia – Dennis Garsinii, a humanitarian and Chief Executive Officer of Courage Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Bong County, has called on MNG Gold Liberia to fulfill its responsibility to rebuild the Nayblehn Bridge near Botota in Kokoyah Statutory District.

According to Garsinii, the bridge was severely damaged in 2023 when one of the company’s heavy equipment machines fell into it.

Following the incident, MNG Gold constructed a temporary bridge and assured residents that a permanent replacement would be completed in January 2024. However, he said the company has failed to honor that commitment.

Garsinii further stated that MNG Gold is also obligated under its agreement to maintain the road network connecting its operational area to Gbarnga through Botota, Gbecohn, and surrounding communities. He expressed concern that the company has neglected this responsibility, leaving the road in poor condition and creating challenges for residents and travelers.

He noted that the bridge and road network are vital for transportation, trade, and access to essential services for communities in the area. As a result, he is urging MNG Gold to take immediate action to rebuild the Nayblehn Bridge and carry out the necessary maintenance work on the affected roads.

Residents continue to call for the company to fulfill its promises and obligations to the communities impacted by its operations.
