Breaking News: 🗞️CDC Chairman Calls for Release of Foday Massaquoi
Monrovia, Liberia – April 14, 2026
The Chairman of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Janga Augustine Kowo, has called for the immediate release of CDC-COP Chairman Foday N. Massaquoi, who was arrested by police during the Students Unification Party (SUP) “Jobs and Justice” protest held today in Monrovia.
In a strong statement issued shortly after the arrest, Chairman Kowo demanded that authorities free Massaquoi without delay, stressing that the Government of Liberia bears full responsibility for his safety while in custody.
“Release Comrade Foday N. Massaquoi now! The Government of Liberia is fully responsible for the safety of Comrade Foday Massaquoi!” Kowo stated.
He further condemned what he described as the Liberia National Police’s illegal use of force against peaceful demonstrators, including members of the Vanguard Students Unification Party and other citizens who participated in the protest.
The demonstration, organized under the theme “Jobs and Justice,” drew a number of students and activists calling on the government to address economic hardship and social concerns affecting ordinary Liberians.
