The Liberia National Red Cross Society – LNRCS has commenced direct cash transfers to 1,820 families affected by floods the 2024.

Beneficiaries are from across Montserrado, Lofa, Bong, and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

The cash transfer according to the LNRCS, focuses on the most vulnerable — including female-headed households, persons with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and families with children under five.

“Each family is receiving direct cash assistance to rebuild homes, restart small businesses, and meet their most urgent needs. This initiative, funded by ECOWAS, is part of the project “Strengthening Resilience and Supporting Disaster-Affected Populations in Liberia,” launched in August 2024 to help restore livelihoods, reduce vulnerabilities, and build lasting community resilience,” it said in a statement.
