VP Koung Urges Government Officials to Treat Liberians with Respect
NIMBA COUNTY, Liberia – Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has cautioned government officials against mistreating ordinary Liberians, reminding them that the citizens they now serve are the same people who entrusted them with public office through their votes.
Speaking during an engagement in Nimba County, Vice President Koung called on public officials to demonstrate compassion, humility, and generosity in their interactions with citizens.
He emphasized that even small acts of kindness can significantly impact the lives of ordinary people, urging government appointees to remain approachable and responsive to the needs of the public.
“Public office does not make anyone superior to others,” the Vice President stressed, noting that only a limited number of individuals are given the opportunity to serve in government at any given time.
Koung encouraged officials to use their positions responsibly by helping those in need and contributing positively to the development of their communities.
The Vice President further disclosed that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is expected to visit Nimba County in the near future and will spend a night in the county as part of the planned engagement.
He urged residents to anticipate the President’s visit, describing it as an important occasion that will further strengthen ties between the national government and the people of Nimba County.
The Vice President’s remarks come amid ongoing calls for greater accountability, accessibility, and citizen-centered leadership within public institutions across Liberia.
