Tokpa Denies Withholding Youth Funds as Bong Youth Group Seeks Court Intervention
GBARNGA, Bong County — Bong County Finance Officer Silas Tokpa has strongly denied allegations that he intentionally blocked the disbursement of US$17,000 budgeted for youth development in the county.
Responding to growing concerns from members of the Youth Consortium, Tokpa clarified that he has not received any official authorization or directive from the appropriate authorities to release the funds. He stressed that the delay is due to administrative and procedural processes, not a personal decision.
According to Tokpa, the issue should be viewed as a systemic challenge rather than an individual action. He described claims that he deliberately withheld the money as “blatant lies,” insisting that he remains committed to following due process in handling county finances.
Meanwhile, the situation has intensified, with the Youth Consortium taking legal action. The group has filed a petition for declaratory judgment before the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Bong County, seeking clarity and resolution on the matter.
The case is expected to determine the next steps regarding the disbursement of the funds and could set a precedent for how similar disputes are handled in the future.
