STAND KICKS OFF COMMUNITY OUTREACH AS JULY 17 PROTEST DRAWS CLOSER
With just weeks remaining before the planned July 17 “Lead or Leave” demonstration, the STAND-led Liberia Protest Coalition has begun an intensive community outreach campaign aimed at building public support for the event.
The campaign officially got underway Thursday in Montserrado County District #14, where organizers met with residents, youth groups, women leaders, students, and community stakeholders. Participants pledged to help spread awareness and encourage wider participation in the protest.
Speaking at the gathering, STAND Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu said the demonstration is intended to give Liberians an opportunity to voice concerns over the country’s economic situation, security challenges, and governance issues. He maintained that many citizens are struggling with rising hardships and deserve to have their concerns heard.
Morlu said organizers are anticipating a turnout of more than 20,000 people at the Executive Mansion Grounds and indicated that similar engagements will be held across Montserrado and nearby counties in the lead-up to the protest.
Meanwhile, activist Ben Believe Tokpa called on Liberians to become involved in what he described as a peaceful civic action. Tokpa said he remains committed to supporting awareness and mobilization efforts ahead of the planned gathering, urging citizens to participate and make their voices count.
The coalition says additional community meetings and recruitment activities will continue in the coming weeks, with Montserrado County District #7 expected to host the next major engagement.
