Senator Moye’s Solar Light Initiative Brings Hope and Safety to Rural Bong Communities
Residents of Kporyaquelleh Clan and surrounding communities in Bong County are celebrating a major step toward safer and brighter nights following the donation of 35 solar street lights by Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr.
The donation, which targets 13 towns across Electoral District #3, is being described by residents as a life-changing initiative that will improve security, support small businesses, and ease movement during the night hours in communities that have long struggled without electricity.
The solar lights were presented on behalf of Senator Moye by Bong County Coordinator Daniel Kerkulah Giddings, who said the senator remains committed to listening to the concerns of ordinary citizens and responding to their needs.
According to him, the donation followed repeated appeals from residents during the recent completion program of the Karyata Clinic, where community members highlighted the dangers they face at night due to darkness.
The beneficiary towns include Kayata, Voloblai Town, Punhen Town, Nyakala Town, Dianena Town, Kpawola Town, Toinor Town, Kelena Town, Konekai Town, Delepolu Town, Joepoli Town, Wolopayeah Town, and Elder Town.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the communities, Alphonso Mulbah, Vice President for Operations of the Suakoko Youth Leadership, praised Senator Moye for what he described as a timely and meaningful intervention.
Mulbah noted that many residents, including students, women marketers, and health workers, often travel between communities at night under unsafe conditions because of the absence of electricity and proper lighting.
“These lights will help improve security and make life easier for our people,” he said, while assuring residents that the materials would be fairly distributed and used for their intended purpose.
Also speaking during the presentation, Harris Gah, Chairperson of the ruling Unity Party in Kporyaquelleh Clan and a member of Team Moye, commended the senator for what he called continuous support to rural communities across Bong County.
According to Gah, Senator Moye has consistently demonstrated leadership by identifying with the needs of local communities, especially in areas affecting health, education, and infrastructure development.
Residents believe the installation of the solar street lights will help reduce night-time crimes, improve mobility, and create opportunities for evening economic activities in the affected towns.
In recent months, Senator Moye has intensified community outreach initiatives across Bong County, with support directed toward healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development aimed at improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
