Senator Dillion Demands Update on US$19 Million Cocaine Investigation

MONROVIA – Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has expressed concern over what he described as the prolonged silence of Liberia’s Joint Security regarding the investigation into the reported seizure of cocaine valued at approximately US$19 million.

In a public statement, Senator Dillon said the absence of official updates since June 9 has raised serious questions about the progress and credibility of the investigation.

“The prolonged and deafening public silence by the Joint Security investigating the over US$19 million cocaine case is becoming even more troubling,” Dillon said.

According to the senator, more than a week has passed without any public briefing on the status of the investigation, leaving citizens uncertain about whether meaningful progress is being made.

He noted that no suspects have been publicly identified, no criminal charges have been announced, and no arrests have been reported in connection with the case.

Senator Dillion that the continued lack of communication risks eroding public confidence in the country’s security institutions and fueling suspicions about the seriousness of the investigation.

“Silence is no longer understandable. It is breeding public distrust and casting doubt on the seriousness and credibility of the ongoing investigation,” he stated.

The Montserrado lawmaker called on the Joint Security to provide the public with an update this week, urging authorities to conduct the investigation without fear or political interference.

“The Joint Security must come forth this week. No fear, no favor,” Dillon declared.
