Rep. Bility Calls for United Opposition Ahead of Next Elections

MONROVIA – Nimba County District #7 Representative and Political Leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), Musa H. Bility, has called on Liberia’s opposition political parties to unite around a common vision and present a credible alternative to the ruling Unity Party.
Speaking on the country’s political future, Representative Bility said many Liberians are increasingly questioning whether the opposition is prepared to govern and what practical solutions it intends to offer if elected.
According to him, defeating the Unity Party should not be the opposition’s only objective, but rather presenting capable leadership and a well-defined national agenda that can move Liberia forward.
“I am not worried about the Unity Party because its time in power will eventually come to an end,” Bility said. “The real question is, if the opposition takes over, who are we going to put there to replace them?”
The lawmaker stressed that Liberia does not need an opposition coalition formed solely to capture state power or advance personal interests.
Instead, he said, the country deserves leaders committed to good governance, accountability, and responsible management of national resources.
“I am not interested in removing the Unity Party if we do not have the right people to replace them,” he stated. “The opposition political leaders must come together with one plan, one agenda, and present it to the Liberian people.”
Representative Bility argued that many political disputes within opposition alliances arise because parties often seek power without first developing a comprehensive blueprint for national transformation.
“When opposition groups fight to gain power without a clear plan or agenda to transform the country, but simply want to rule, that is where divisions begin,” he said.
He concluded by urging opposition leaders to set aside personal ambitions, reawaken their collective spirit, and work toward building a united political front capable of offering Liberians a genuine alternative in future elections.
Rep. Bility’s remarks come amid growing public debate over the opposition’s ability to forge a united coalition ahead of Liberia’s next electoral cycle, with many observers calling for stronger collaboration among opposition parties to effectively challenge the ruling establishment.
