Presidential Initiative Team Tours Lofa Schools, Promises Support for Students and Teachers

Voinjama, Lofa County – April 23, 2026 — A high-level delegation from the Presidential Special Initiative has begun a county-wide assessment of schools in Lofa, signaling a renewed push by government to address challenges facing students and educators across the region.
The team, led by Madam Mamassa D. Kamara, is visiting several institutions to evaluate conditions and identify areas requiring urgent support. The initiative, she disclosed, is a joint effort involving the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender, Ministry of State, and the Ministry of National Defense.
Speaking during the visit, Kamara said the program is designed to directly support both students and teachers through the provision of essential items. These include school shoes for girls, sports jerseys and footballs for students, toothbrushes, slippers, and tracksuits for teachers, among other materials intended to improve both learning and participation in extracurricular activities.
She emphasized that the intervention will not be limited to a few schools, noting that the program is expected to extend across Lofa County to ensure broader impact.
Education stakeholders in the county have welcomed the move, describing it as a timely intervention that could help ease some of the burdens faced by students, particularly in rural communities.
The Presidential Special Initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the government to strengthen the education sector and improve learning conditions nationwide.
