President Boakai Receives Warm Welcome as Bassa Democratic Movement Opens New Headquarters

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County | July 23, 2026 — The Bassa Democratic Movement (BDM) on Thursday officially dedicated its new headquarters on God Bless You Hill in Buchanan as President Joseph Nyuma Boakai arrived in Grand Bassa County for Liberia’s 179th Independence Day celebrations.
Supporters from across the county gathered to welcome the President, waving palm branches as symbols of peace and unity. President Boakai was accompanied by Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, senior government officials, members of the Legislature and Judiciary, and foreign dignitaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, BDM Political Leader and former Grand Bassa Senator Jonathan Lambort Kaipay said the new headquarters will serve as a center for youth empowerment, leadership development, and vocational skills training.
BDM Chairman Daniel Gbassagee described the large turnout as a sign of the movement’s growing support, expressing confidence in its future political role in Grand Bassa County.
The dedication formed part of activities leading to Liberia’s 179th Independence Day celebration in Buchanan.
