Tangier, Morocco — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., on Wednesday held a private bilateral meeting with Gambian President Adama Barrow on the sidelines of the 17th MEDays Forum, as West African leaders continue consultations aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.
The closed-door engagement focused on key issues of mutual interest, including regional peace and security, enhanced economic cooperation, and deeper bilateral ties between Liberia and The Gambia. The two leaders also discussed ongoing developments within ECOWAS and explored ways the regional bloc can more effectively respond to political, economic, and security challenges confronting West Africa.
President Boakai reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to expanding cooperation with The Gambia, stressing the importance of strong partnerships in areas such as agriculture, education, governance, and trade. He emphasized that closer collaboration among West African nations is essential for promoting stability and sustainable development.
President Barrow welcomed the dialogue and expressed The Gambia’s willingness to pursue practical joint initiatives that align with both national development goals and regional priorities.
The meeting underscored the longstanding friendship between Liberia and The Gambia and reinforced their shared vision for a more peaceful, resilient, and prosperous West African subregion.
