After months under the weight of serious public accusations, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, J. Bryant McGill, has been officially cleared of rape allegations following an extensive investigation by the Liberia National Police (LNP). Authorities say the evidence gathered did not support the claims brought against him.

The case, which surfaced on August 30, 2025, accused McGill of sexually assaulting a woman identified as F.P.C.D. at his office at the SKD Sports Complex, and in a separate incident two days earlier near the Zone-8 Depot. The allegations sparked public debate and intense scrutiny, placing the deputy minister at the center of national attention.

However, investigators relied on both forensic science and digital tracking data to determine the facts. According to the LNP, GSM/GPS analysis showed that McGill was in Thinker’s Village, miles away from the location of the alleged August 28 incident, at the time it was said to have occurred. Further, DNA testing conducted by the Forensics Institute in Kigali, Rwanda, concluded that the male genetic material retrieved from the complainant’s clothing did not match McGill’s Y-STR profile.

Based on these findings, the police formally issued a clearance certificate, effectively exonerating the deputy minister and bringing the investigation to a close. Authorities emphasized that the decision followed a careful review of all available evidence.
