“Never Be Ashamed of Your History” National Orator Challenges Liberians to Rewrite the National Narrative

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County — Liberia’s 179th Independence Day National Orator, Dr. Herbert Brewer, has challenged Liberians to reclaim their history, warning that a nation that loses its identity risks losing its future.

Delivering the Independence Day Oration in Buchanan, Dr. Brewer urged citizens to reject distorted accounts of Liberia’s past and embrace their shared heritage as the foundation for unity and national progress.

“Never be ashamed of your history; it is a shared inheritance. Claim it. Be proud of it,” he declared.

He called on Liberians especially the younger generation to protect the country’s legacy, strengthen national unity, and ensure that history becomes a tool for building a stronger Liberia rather than a source of division.
