Morlu: Parade my Casket If I Die Before July 17 Protest

Monrovia – The Chairman of the Solidarity and Trust for A New Day (STAND), Mulbah K. Morlu, has reportedly instructed members of his family and relatives that should he die before the planned July 17 “Leave or Lead” protest, his casket should be carried by demonstrators and paraded to the grounds of the Executive Mansion during the peaceful march.
Morlu said the unusual directive underscores his unwavering commitment to the July 17 demonstration, which he described as “the mother of all protests” in Liberia.
Speaking Thursday in Clara Town, Bushrod Island, during a gathering where he received endorsements from a cross-section of women, youth groups, and community-based organizations, the STAND chairman reaffirmed his determination to see the protest proceed as planned.
According to Morlu, the July 17 protest represents a defining moment for the administration of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and serves as what he termed a “red line” for the government.
He urged Liberians across the country to begin mobilizing and intensify public awareness efforts ahead of the demonstration, calling on citizens to actively campaign for the success of the “Leave or Lead” protest.
The July 17 protest, being organized by STAND and its allies, is expected to focus on concerns surrounding governance, economic hardship, accountability, and public service delivery.
Morlu maintained that the planned demonstration would remain peaceful and lawful, while encouraging citizens to exercise their constitutional rights through civic participation.
