Liberian diplomat and former Assistant Minister for International Organizations, Hon. Karishma Pelham-Raad, has been named a Dongfang Scholar under the prestigious PKU Dongfang Scholarship Program at Peking University, one of China’s leading institutions of higher learning.
Hon. Raad is among 50 outstanding global scholars selected to participate in the month-long program, which runs from October 20 to November 16, 2025, in Beijing, China. The initiative focuses on international relations, leadership, governance, and China’s development model, bringing together emerging leaders from around the world.
Speaking on her selection, Hon. Raad described the recognition as “a reaffirmation of my commitment to lifelong learning and global engagement.” She encouraged young Liberians and Africans to continuously invest in education and purpose-driven growth, emphasizing that “education remains one of the most powerful tools to transform societies and inspire change.”
Her selection marks another milestone in Liberia’s representation on the global academic and diplomatic stage, underscoring the growing influence of young African leaders in international policy and governance forums.
