Liberian Diaspora Boosts School Feeding Program with US$3,000 Support

Liberia’s National School Feeding Program has received a boost following a US$3,000 donation from members of the Liberian diaspora, aimed at improving learning conditions for schoolchildren across the country.
The contribution was presented on April 4 by a delegation from the Diaspora Annual Return of Liberia initiative, led by its Chairperson Clarice Ford-Kulah, along with Committee Member Lois Harris.
Presenting the donation, the delegation reaffirmed the diaspora’s commitment to supporting Liberia’s education sector, particularly initiatives that directly impact the welfare and academic performance of students.
Receiving the funds on behalf of the government, Education Minister Jarso Maley Jallah underscored the importance of the school feeding program, describing it as a key driver of increased enrollment, improved attendance, and enhanced learning outcomes, especially among vulnerable children.
She noted that access to daily meals in schools not only encourages students to remain in the classroom but also helps improve concentration and overall academic performance.
The Ministry of Education said the donation will support ongoing efforts to expand and sustain school feeding initiatives nationwide, as authorities continue to seek partnerships to strengthen the program.
Officials further praised the diaspora community for its continued engagement in national development, noting that such contributions play a vital role in addressing critical needs within the education system.
