MONROVIA, Liberia — April 28, 2026 — Liberia is set to host a major continental gathering of young political leaders, as preparations intensify for the 2026 Forum of the Young Democrat Union of Africa (YDUA), scheduled for July in Monrovia.

Leading the charge is Togar Melvin Cephas, Chairman of the National Youth League of the Unity Party, who confirmed that the YDUA Board has concluded a high-level working session aimed at finalizing plans for the event.

According to Cephas, the preparatory meeting focused on setting strategic priorities and coordinating logistics for the forum, which is expected to bring together youth representatives from 32 political parties across Africa.

He described Liberia’s selection as host as a landmark opportunity, placing the country at the center of key discussions on youth empowerment, democratic governance, and political participation on the continent.

“This is a defining moment for Liberia,” Cephas noted, emphasizing that the forum will open doors for young Liberians to interact with peers from diverse political and cultural backgrounds, fostering collaboration and idea-sharing.

The YDUA Forum is expected to tackle critical issues affecting young people, including leadership development, strengthening democratic institutions, and expanding youth involvement in politics across Africa.

Political observers say the event could enhance Liberia’s profile as a hub for regional dialogue while providing a platform for emerging leaders to shape the future of governance on the continent.

The July forum is anticipated to draw significant attention from policymakers, civil society actors, and international partners, all keen to engage in conversations that could redefine youth participation in Africa’s political landscape.
