The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Lower Margibi Detachment has launched a massive anti-drug operation across Harbel and the Cutting Tree communities, resulting in the demolition of several ghettos believed to be used for illegal drug activities.
The operation, which took place on Wednesday, February 4, was led by Lower Margibi Duty Commander Peter S. Wonletoe. According to Commander Wonletoe, the exercise forms part of an ongoing effort to curb drug trafficking and abuse in the county.
He disclosed that the enforcement actions will continue through March and April without interruption, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to combating the sale and distribution of drugs that threaten the future of Liberia’s youth. Residents in the affected communities reportedly welcomed the operation, with some citizens expressing appreciation for the agency’s intervention.
Commander Wonletoe also called on residents of Harbel, Cutting Tree, Firestone officials, and the wider Lower Margibi community to collaborate with the LDEA in its fight against illegal drug activities.
Meanwhile, the LDEA headquarters in Monrovia also carried out a similar cleanup operation across parts of the city. The exercise was led by LDEA Director, ACP Patrick Sudue Komazu, who stated that the initiative is aimed at identifying drug hotspots and strengthening law enforcement presence.
Director Komazu noted that the agency’s mission goes beyond enforcement, stressing that the LDEA is committed to supporting national development by maintaining law and order while helping to reduce drug-related crimes.
In a related development, Margibi County LDEA Commander Alfred J. Lopleh led a delegation to Wong Gibi District for a community engagement meeting with local and traditional leaders. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between citizens and law enforcement in addressing drug-related issues across the district.
Additionally, LDEA officers provided security during a groundbreaking ceremony for several road construction projects in District Five, led by Representative Clarence G. Gahr. The security team was headed by Commander Alfred Jlopeh, County Operations Officer Allasan S. Dolly, District Acting Head Supervisor Sheik Adams, and Acting Operations Officer J. Peter Flomo.
The VIP delegation was also provided security during the road construction event held in Konola, Margibi County.
