Former Weah Protocol Chief Surrenders to Criminal Court ‘C’, Secures Release on US$435,560 Bond

Monrovia, Liberia – Former Chief of Protocol under the administration of former President George Weah has voluntarily surrendered herself to Criminal Court “C” in connection with multiple criminal charges but was not taken into custody upon her arrival in Liberia.
Defendant Finda Bondo turned herself in on Tuesday, June 9, shortly after returning to the country, according to judicial sources.
Court documents indicate that Bondo, through her legal team, filed a property bond valued at US$435,560. The bond was subsequently approved by Resident Judge Ousman Feika in accordance with applicable legal procedures, allowing her to remain free pending trial rather than being remanded to the Monrovia Central Prison.
Madam Bondo and several other defendants were earlier indicted by the Montserrado County Grand Jury on a range of charges, including money laundering, theft of property, misuse of public money and records, criminal conspiracy, and forgery.
Judicial records further reveal that a writ of arrest had been duly issued by the court and transmitted to the Liberia Immigration Service at Roberts International Airport ahead of her arrival. Despite the active warrant, Bondo was not arrested upon entering the country.
Meanwhile, the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force is reportedly seeking an explanation regarding the apparent failure to execute the court-issued writ. The task force is said to be reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether proper procedures were followed by the relevant authorities.
The case remains under active judicial consideration as prosecutors prepare to proceed with the prosecution of the defendants on the charges contained in the indictment.
