Mr. President I just read your New Year Message, and you are calling for a united Liberia, collective action, lowering the temperature, etc. Though this may sound belated to some of us especially after two years of your stewardship, but we again embrace the call as people who have always sought peace over war. Good that you have realized that no one group, or party can move this country forward without collectivity.

Mr. President, with this call the burden is upon you to lead with example by uniting this country genuinely. You need to begin genuine reconciliation by reaching out to all and if possible having a conference on national reconciliation and unity. This nation is badly divided and good that you have recognized this once deniable truth. You need to first take charge of the governance process of this country and exercise control over your officials for once because too many of them have fueled the high emotions and temperature you now want to calm.

We believe that your fight against corruption is bias against one group and you must fight corruption impartially and not selectively. Your role in the Capitol Building saga demonstrated bad governance and we believe the case against Former Speaker Koffa and others are politically motivated. Your government needs to withdraw this case in the interest of genuine peace and reconciliation and this should not be seen as a sign of weakness or defeat on your part trust.

Trust in the justice system has eroded under your administration and police brutality has increased drastically. You have to act Mr. President and act now because when people cannot get justice or protected, they revert to unorthodox practices. This police force under you is extremely brutal and lacks public trust.

The fight against drugs was first politicized during the 2023 Presidential Election when you Mr. President accused the CDC Government of bringing in “kush.” Now you are the President and our kids are dying from a new drug called “spark and die.” Should we accuse you this time around or should we encourage you to find a solution? We will encourage you to find a lasting solution not just by amending the laws and arresting the end users but go for the big fish and rehabilitate those young people who are abused. Turn them into productive citizens for once Mr. President.

Reach out genuinely Mr. President to all political leaders and other actors too and you need to demonstrate sincerity in this process. Your first two years caused serious damage to people who hand deliver power to you and even some who supported your cause. The bitter truth is that this nation is divided greatly on party lines or blue and green. This has to be speedily addressed now or never. Some People may want to disagree with this open secret but again it’s their right to disagree.

We have always been willing to move Liberia forward not by taking jobs in your government nor by pampering your government. Our objective will always be to hold your government feet to the fire .

Finally Mr. President if you are truly sincere about your New Year message you have to demonstrate that in deeds and not words.
