Education Minister Dedicates New Grand Bassa High School on Behalf of President Boakai

BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County | July 24, 2026 — Grand Bassa County celebrated another milestone in education on Friday as Own Your Own High School was officially dedicated, providing students in the county with a new place to learn and pursue their dreams.

The dedication ceremony was led by Education Minister Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, who represented President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. at the event. The new school was constructed through Grand Bassa County’s County Social Development Fund (CSDF) under the leadership of Superintendent Karyou Johnson.

Addressing residents, students, and local officials, Dr. Jallah said expanding access to education goes beyond constructing school buildings. She emphasized that quality teaching, adequate learning materials, and a supportive environment are equally important to ensuring students receive the education they deserve.

For county authorities, the completion of the school reflects the impact that local development funds can have when invested in projects that directly benefit communities. Officials expressed hope that the new facility will help improve access to education and create a better learning environment for students across the county.

The dedication attracted government officials, educators, community leaders, parents, and residents, many of whom welcomed the investment in the county’s education sector. As the new academic year approaches, attention now shifts to ensuring the school is fully staffed and equipped to provide quality education from its first day of operation.
