Cybersecurity Bill Awaits President Boakai’s Signature, Says Senator Moye

GBARNGA, Bong County – July 1, 2026 – Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. has announced that a comprehensive cybersecurity bill, which has already been passed by both Houses of the Liberian Legislature, is now awaiting the signature of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to become law.
Senator Moye made the disclosure on Tuesday during the launch of the Cybercrime Marathon organized by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) in Gbarnga, Bong County.
He described the proposed legislation as a significant step forward in Liberia’s efforts to combat cybercrime and strengthen digital security across the country.
According to Senator Moye, the passage of the bill reflects the government’s commitment to protecting citizens, businesses, and public institutions from growing cyber threats.
He noted that once signed into law by President Boakai, the legislation will provide a stronger legal framework for addressing cybercrime, supporting law enforcement agencies, and promoting cybersecurity awareness.
“The cybersecurity bill represents a major milestone in Liberia’s digital transformation and our collective fight against cybercrime,” Senator Moye said.
The Bong County Senator also commended the Liberia Telecommunications Authority for leading public awareness initiatives on cybersecurity.
He emphasized that cooperation among government institutions, private sector actors, and citizens is essential to addressing the increasing challenges posed by cybercriminal activities.
The launch of the Cybercrime Marathon brought together government officials, security personnel, telecommunications stakeholders, students, and community members in Gbarnga to raise awareness about cybercrime prevention and encourage the responsible use of digital technologies throughout Liberia.
The proposed cybersecurity law is expected to strengthen Liberia’s capacity to prevent, investigate, and prosecute cyber-related offenses while promoting a safer and more secure digital environment for all citizens.
