Former House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa and 14 others defendants are expected to respond to their criminal indictment on Tuesday September 2, 2025 at Criminal Court ‘A’ in connection to the burning of Capitol Building on December 18, 2024.

Judge Roosevelt Willie, according to our Judicial Correspondent has since issued a notice of assignment to both prosecution and defense lawyers regarding Tuesday’s proceeding.

Our Judicial Correspondent said Judge Willie’s notice comes at the time when prosecuting lawyers met the Court August 27, 2025 deadline and to surrender all pieces of evidence to the defense lawyers as provided by law.

The former House Speaker is among 14 others defendants who were indicted by the Special Grand Jury of Montserrado County in connection to the burning of the Capitol Building on December 18, 2024.

They were indicted for multiple offenses ranging from criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy, attempt to commit murder, arson, criminal mischief among others.
