CLBC Celebrates Historic First Graduation as Senator Moye Commits US$3,000 to College’s Growth
Gbarnga Bong County: The Central Liberia Bible College (CLBC) has reached a major milestone in its 30-year history by graduating 34 students during its maiden Commencement Convocation, marking the institution’s first formal graduation ceremony since its establishment in 1996.
The colorful ceremony, held on the college’s main campus in Gbarnga, brought together clergy, educators, government officials, parents, students, and community leaders from across Bong County and beyond to celebrate the pioneer class of graduates.
Delivering the keynote address, Bong County Senator Hon. Prince Kermue Moye, Sr. emphasized the importance of investing in education, describing it as the foundation of national development, strong institutions, and responsible citizenship.
“Education is not just about earning certificates; it is about building character, discipline, and a sense of service to humanity,” Senator Moye said. “If we must transform Liberia, we must invest in institutions like CLBC that are shaping minds and hearts for leadership.”
The Senator encouraged the 34 graduates to remain disciplined, humble, and committed to serving both God and their communities.
“Go and be light in your communities. Let the training you received here reflect in how you serve God and your fellow man,” he urged.
In support of the college’s continued growth, Senator Moye pledged US$3,000 to strengthen CLBC’s academic and development programs. According to him, the contribution will help improve learning facilities, expand the institution’s library, and support faculty development.
“This pledge is my personal commitment to ensuring that CLBC continues to grow and produce leaders who will impact Liberia for Christ,” the Senator stated.
College administrators welcomed the pledge with appreciation, noting that the support comes at a crucial time as the institution seeks to expand its academic programs and improve campus infrastructure.
Founded in 1996 during Liberia’s civil war by Rev. David M. Kolleh, the Central Liberia Bible College was established to provide Christian education and leadership training at a time when the country’s formal education system faced serious disruptions.
Despite years of war, limited resources, and infrastructure challenges, the institution has remained committed to training pastors, church workers, and community leaders across Liberia.
Saturday’s graduation represents CLBC’s first official commencement convocation and signals the college’s transition into a new era of academic accreditation and structured degree programs.
Speaking during the ceremony, Founder Rev. David M. Kolleh described the event as the fulfillment of a long-held vision.
He thanked God, the faculty, students, and development partners for sustaining the institution through decades of national challenges and helping make the historic achievement possible.
The 34 graduates, who earned certificates and diplomas in Theology, Christian Education, Agriculture, and Church Leadership, were encouraged to use the knowledge and values acquired to positively transform churches and communities throughout Liberia.
Parents and guardians who attended the ceremony praised the college for combining biblical values with academic discipline despite the country’s economic hardships.
Observers noted that Senator Moye’s participation and financial commitment align with President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, particularly its Education pillar, which promotes investment in human capital development, vocational education, and partnerships with faith-based institutions.
Education stakeholders in Bong County described the graduation as another indication that private and faith-based institutions continue to play a significant role in expanding access to quality higher education in rural Liberia.
Meanwhile, the CLBC administration announced plans to introduce degree-awarding programs through partnerships with accredited theological institutions, pending approval from the National Commission on Higher Education. The college also intends to expand its campus facilities to accommodate its growing student population.
