CITIZENS ACTION MOVEMENT OF LIBERIA CONDEMNS SENATOR SAAH JOSEPH’S POLITICALLY MOTIVATED ATTACK ON FOREIGN MINISTER SARA BEYSOLOW NYANTI
Monrovia, Liberia – July 16, 2026
The Citizens Action Movement of Liberia (CAMOL) strongly condemns the reckless and politically motivated statement made by Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph during Thursday’s Senate deliberations, in which he called for punitive action against Foreign Minister Hon. Sara Beysolow Nyanti For Attending International women’s Day Celebrations at the Headquarters of the Liberty Party.
We view Senator Joseph’s attempt to equate Minister Nyanti’s participation in an International Women’s Day observance hosted by the Liberty Party with the case of CSA Director General Josiah Joekai as a deliberate act of misrepresentation, bad faith, and political witch-hunting.
The Senate Pro Tempore, Hon. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, correctly clarified that the event in question was not a political rally but a global observance recognizing the contributions of women.
For Senator Joseph to willfully distort that fact and demand the Senate to take similar action against a performing cabinet minister is not only dishonest, but a dangerous abuse of his legislative authority.
Senator Joseph’s statement is consistent with a pattern of distraction and grandstanding meant to undermine the Boakai administration’s progress while offering nothing constructive to the Liberian people.
At a time when Liberia needs unity and focus on development, Senator Joseph has chosen the path of smear and selective outrage.
Unlike the baseless allegations, Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti’s record at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs speaks for itself and deserves commendation, not condemnation:
Under Minister Nyanti’s leadership, Liberia has reasserted itself in ECOWAS, AU, and UN engagements, with increased diplomatic visibility and renewed bilateral partnerships.
She has launched aggressive outreach to the Liberian diaspora to mobilize investment, skills transfer, and support for national development.
The Minister has prioritized the inclusion of Liberian women and young professionals in foreign service and international representation.
The MFA under her watch has focused on trade and investment diplomacy, positioning Liberia to attract partners in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
To target such a dedicated public servant with fabricated allegations is an insult to the Liberian people and to women’s leadership.
OUR DEMAND:
CAMOL calls on Senator Saah Joseph to desist from using the Senate floor to pursue petty political vendettas.
We urge him to focus on delivering for Montserrado County instead of manufacturing controversies.
We commend the Senate, and particularly Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, for rejecting this frivolous request and for upholding facts over political theatrics.
The Citizens Action Movement of Liberia stands firmly with Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti and all officials working in good faith to move Liberia forward.
We will not allow political opportunists to derail the progress of our country with lies and distractions.
