The Liberia National Police (LNP) has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm following a targeted operation in Logan Town, Bushrod Island.

According to police, officers assigned to Zone 1 carried out the planned enforcement action on February 26, 2026, at an area commonly known as “Medicine Block.” During the operation, suspect Blessing Kamanta, a resident of the community, was apprehended.

Investigators say Kamanta was found in possession of a handgun allegedly intended for illegal and potentially deadly use. Authorities further disclosed that the suspect is believed to have been involved in the sale of the weapon.

During preliminary questioning, Kamanta reportedly admitted to the offense and told investigators that he obtained the firearm from an individual identified only as Sarus, commonly known as “Truth.”

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The LNP has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and is urging citizens to provide credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to curb illegal weapons circulation.

Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
