CDC SUSPENDS CDC-USA INTERIM LEADERSHIP OVER ALLEGED INSUBORDINATION
NEC Halts All CDC-USA Activities; Philadelphia Convention Committee Empowered

Monrovia, February 24, 2026 — The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has suspended the entire interim leadership of its United States branch, CDC-USA, citing gross insubordination, violation of party protocols, and actions deemed detrimental to the party’s unity.
The decision was reached during an emergency NEC session held on February 22, 2026, at the party’s temporary national headquarters in Sinkor. The resolution was formally issued Tuesday under the signature of National Chairman Atty. Janga A. Kowo.
Leadership Suspended
Among those suspended with immediate effect are CDC-USA Interim Chairman Mr. Yahaya Talata Sheriff — whose earlier suspension was reaffirmed — Acting Chairman Mr. Donald Geelpay Todey, and several other senior officials of the branch.
The NEC has also suspended two chapter leaders in Minnesota and Iowa, alleging their involvement in actions that undermine the party’s authority.
All suspended officials have been referred to the party’s National Grievance and Ethics Committee for further investigation and possible disciplinary action.
Power Shift to Convention Committee
In a decisive move, the NEC has vested full administrative, financial, and operational authority of CDC-USA in the 2026 National Convention Committee chaired by Rev. Solomon M. Muin.
The Committee is now recognized as the only legitimate body authorized to coordinate activities and organize the upcoming CDC-USA National Convention scheduled for June 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The NEC declared any parallel convention including a reported gathering being organized in Minnesota as “illegal, null, and void.”
Internal Dispute Escalates
The controversy stems from what the NEC described as a prolonged administrative impasse within CDC-USA. According to the resolution, the interim leadership allegedly refused to submit an agreed electoral roadmap, declined to attend NEC meetings, and challenged the authority of the party’s highest decision-making body outside of National Congress.
The NEC argued that its actions are grounded in provisions of the party’s constitution, which grant it supervisory authority over all national and international branches.
Warning to Members
The party has cautioned members and supporters in the diaspora against conducting business or financial transactions with the suspended officials under the guise of representing the CDC.
“The Party shall not be held liable for the actions of these individuals,” the resolution stated.
Despite the internal shake-up, the NEC reaffirmed its commitment to what it described as rule of law, internal democracy, and preparations for the 2029 general elections.
The latest development signals deepening tensions within the CDC’s diaspora structure, as the party moves to consolidate authority ahead of its 2026 U.S. convention.
